REQUIREMENTS OR NEEDS FOR PERSONS WITH DISABILITIES

Disability can be defined as any condition of the body or mind that makes it more difficult for a person with a condition to do certain activities and interact with the world around them. In this case they are not able to participate in any activity that is taking place in their communities rather their country. But it is necessary to provide requirements or needs to such kind of people and these include; full access to the environment, inclusive education, equal opportunities for employment and counselling. Therefore, the essay will discuss these requirements or needs for persons with disabilities. To start with, full access to the environment. People with disabilities can be at a higher risk for injuries and abuses. It is imp for the guardians or parents and other family members to teach their loved ones on how to stay safe and what to do if they feel threatened or they have been hurt in any way. Thus why there is environmental modifications maybe be made to individuals homes or vehicle(wheelchair lift, wheelchair lock down devices, adapted driving controls) for the purpose of increasing independent functioning and safety or to enable family members or other care givers to provide care that is required to the persons with disabilities. Inclusive education is another requirement or need to the persons with disabilities. It is based on the principle that all children should learn together, regardless of difference. Inclusive education recognizes the capacity of everyone to learn, including people with disabilities and acknowledges that each person has different strengths, requirements and learning styles. People with disabilities they should be treated as equal to any other person and they should be employed if they have a particular qualification to fill in a certain position. For instance paying someone less because if discrimination is unacceptable, if someone is doing the same work as well as another staff member, they should be getting paid the same for that work regardless of gender, age and other factors. Finally, counselling is another need rather requirement for persons with disabilities. The aim of disability counselling is to provide a safe and supportive space for clients to discuss their concerns and fears. Counselling is relevant to persons with disabilities in the sense that they provide support to people with disabilities as well as their partners, family and cares. It can often lead to low social support and financial hardship. These experiences can be linked to mental health problems, such as stress and anxiety.
